[Higashiginza] The old days of Tokyo staring from behind the alleys
"Yoshiya Kibikicho,"

It's not because it's the fall of art, but the other day, I had the opportunity to watch an online performance of classical Kabuki. Kabuki appreciation through the screen with subtitle commentary, easy to see the entire stage, and the camera captures the performances and expressions of the performers, so I was able to fully enjoy the showroom. Needless to say, the live stage is wonderful, but I was also interested in video distribution services.

Speaking of Kabuki in Chuo-ku, Kabukiza is the Kabukiza Theater. Today, I would like to talk about not about the performance, but about the long-established Japanese confectionery shop located behind the alleys of the Kabukiza area, Yoshiya Kobikicho.

First of all, let's introduce the specialty.

Kibikicho Yoshiya is also known as a shop for entertainment-related people, including the Kabuki world. The specialty is a cute half moon-shaped dorayaki. One moist dough wraps a soft sweet bean paste using red beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido. Elegant dorayaki, which harmonizes the shape and taste, is a popular product, so we recommend booking when purchasing.

Dorayaki 140 yen (from 5 pieces)

As introduced before, you can make original dorayaki with corporate logos by custom ordering a brand seal at Yoshiya Kibikicho. There are inquiries from a wide range of industries as gifts, and the number of seals stored is as many as 6,000.

Here is a report when Super Executive correspondent yaz produced only one brand seal in the world.

It's a small, cute, deep-hearted item.

Kibikicho Yoshiya was founded in 1922 (1922). Next year is the 100th anniversary, isn't it? If anniversary dorayaki is to be released, it will be a dorayaki once every hundred years. ※I'm sorry to say you're selfish.

Tokyo when Yoshiya Kibikicho was founded

At 11:58 on September 1, 1923 (1923), a violent shaking hit the southern Kanto region. The time of cooking and the approach of the typhoon overlapped, and when the fire came up from the dense wooden house, a strong wind quickly increased it again. The Great Kanto Earthquake.

A website was opened on September 1, 2019, where you can watch videos of the Great Kanto Earthquake, which became an unprecedented great disaster. By September 1, 2023, which marks the 100th anniversary of the earthquake disaster, we plan to release all the works related to the earthquake held by the National Film Archives.

The National Film Archive is the only national film agency in Japan that promotes film culture through the preservation, research, and release of films. There is a screening hall with a library and gallery space at Kyobashi Sanchome, so many of you may know.

The former Ryogoku Bridge, which was later reused in Minami Takahashi as related to the current Chuo-ku, was recently reborn in the previous year, and the Maruzen head office, which survived the main pillar of Kyobashi, and the collapse of the steel frame structure of the Marukoshi headquarters, which survived the fierce earthquake, can be avoided by the fierce fire.

At that time, when such documentary films were screened nationwide, people who knew the distant damage situation increased their awareness of helping each other.

This is Tokyo the year after Kibikicho Yoshiya was founded. When I think about the hundred years from here, I feel that the city and society where we live now are nothing more than the precious heritage that our predecessors have created while overcoming the hardships many times.

The third generation is the ideaman "Ginza Mono-Hito Connection Project"

Daichi Saito, the third generation, will be responsible for the beginning of the next 100 years of Yoshiya Kibikicho, who has survived the turbulent Tokyo Ginza for 100 years. It is also a signboard boy of the sweet shop that also offers light meals.

Saito made a call in April last year, thinking about what could be done in the city of Ginza, which was losing its brilliance due to the spread of COVID-19 infection. It is about bartering in the form of a relay and introducing the situation on SNS.

Shortly after, this bartering was named the "Ginza Monotsugi Project", and various shops and companies participated and deepened local connections. As a result, we decided to spread the appeal of the city of Ginza and signboard products widely. Nowadays, the circle of the "Monotsugi Project" jumps over the boundaries of the region and spreads to Kamakura and Asakusa. Of course, all of the "monotsugi" started with Kibikicho Yoshiya Nodorayaki.

And this year, the "Ginza Monotsugi Project" has become the "Ginza Hitotsugi Project" with the theme of "Connecting Thoughts from Things to People" and is sending out messages full of affection from people who are related to Ginza every day.

This month, the long-awaited "Nihonbashi Monotsugi Project" has started. Yamamoto-noriten and Nihonbashi Benmatsu Sohonten, who are familiar with this correspondent blog, appeared in the Twitter version of teaser ads (Parts 1, 2, 3).

From now on, you can't keep an eye on Kibikicho Yoshiya Nodorayaki and the project that the third generation works.
