Spring performance! Let's walk
Part 2 of "Tokyo Sky Tree" seen from Sumida River Terrace
Hello, this is the new correspondent "Take-chan".
This time, we plan to take a look at the Tokyo Sky Tree from Ryogoku Bridge to the vicinity of the mouth of the Sumida River while walking around the Sumida River Terrace.
Since the distance was a bit long, in the first part I walked along the right bank terrace of the Sumida River to the vicinity of Chuo-ohashi Bridge. In Part 2 this time, we will mainly walk along the left bank terrace of the Sumida River and aim near the mouth of the Sumida River.
By the way, on the left and right sides of the river, it seems that the right is the right bank and the left is the left bank from the upstream to the downstream. In this project, the right bank from Ryogoku Bridge to Eitai Bridge is Chuo-ku, and the left bank is Koto-ku. The right bank and the left bank are Chuo-ku south of Chuo-ohashi Bridge, right?
From Chuo-ohashi Bridge to Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge
After crossing Chuo-ohashi Bridge, enter Tsukuda Park and head downstream along the terrace. We are in the season when fresh green is dazzling. On the other side, you can see the "Regishi Island water level station" and the mouth of the Kamejima River. The terrace is temporarily interrupted near "Ishikawajima Lighthouse".
Cross "Tsukudabori" at "Sumiyoshi Kobashi", and on the way down the slope, you will see the torii gate of "Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine" on your left. It's also fun to walk around here, which has a history of less than 380 years. We will return to the terrace again from "Tsukuda Island Ferry Terminal Ruins".
From Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge to Kachidokibashi
Walk along the Sumida River Terrace and go through Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge. There is a high-rise twin tower of "St. Luke Garden" tower in front of the Sumida River.
I met an interesting sight near the long-established restaurant "Tsukijisaku" on the opposite bank.
"Tokyo Sky Tree" on the right and "Tokyo Tower" on the back of Kachidokibashi on the left.
It is a valuable place where you can see the two super famous towers representing Tokyo, left and right.
Cross the Tsukishima River at the Tsukishima River Suimon Terrace connecting bridge completed in September 2020. Thanks to this connecting bridge, the Sumida River terrace from the vicinity of Tsukuda moat to the vicinity of Shinzuki Shimakawa in Kachidoki was connected to one.
The options for running and walking courses have increased, and you can enjoy the terrace more closely.
From Kachidokibashi to Tsukiji Ohashi
If you walk along the Sumida River Terrace and pass through Kachidokibashi, the opposite bank will be the site of Tsukiji Market. Most buildings have been dismantled.
Only the multi-story parking lot (Kachidoki-mon parking lot) along Harumi-dori St. and the Uguisu-color building, which was probably used as a wholesale fishery, are lonely.
The terrace is temporarily cut off near Hamamae sluice gate just before Shingetsu Shimakawa.
If you see a building with the logo "OVOL" on your left, go up the stairs on the terrace, cross the Shingetsu Shimakawa at Hamamaebashi right next to you, and pass through Tsukiji Ohashi.
Finally, from Tsukiji Ohashi to the mouth of the Sumida River
As you walk along the road along the Sumida River, you will find "Kachidoki Viewing Park", which was introduced in the first blog of "Take-chan" on your right. You can also see the Sky Tree from here, but this time we will walk further to reach the mouth of the Sumida River.
Walk about 300m from the park to Kiyosumi-dori and turn right. Proceed to the construction site of "Toyomi District Redevelopment" toward Toyomi Fisheries Wharf. The end point of the city bus capital 04 and gate 33: Turn right at the pedestrian crossing near the Toyomi Fisheries Wharf stop and aim for the mouth of the Sumida River.
Toyomi-cho is a town with fisheries-related warehouses (refrigerators and freezers). I've heard that marine products transported from all over the country go directly to Toyosu Market, and some adjust the shipping time at a warehouse in Toyomi-cho. It is a town that creates a unique atmosphere in Chuo-ku.
Soon we arrived near the mouth of the Sumida River. Compared to the Sky Tree seen from Ryogoku Bridge, the size is much smaller, but the distance to the Sky Tree is still about 7.3 km. You can also see the male sky tree near this area near the southernmost tip of Chuo-ku.
This time, I went south from Ryogoku Bridge to the vicinity of the mouth of the Sumida River while watching the "Tokyo Sky Tree". If you are a good leg, you may be able to walk in one day, but why not try walking around the city near the Sumida River Terrace for several days?
Thank you very much.
※Near the mouth of the Sumida River is the end point of Tokyo Bus Metropolitan 04 and Gate 33: About a 5-minute walk from the Toyomi Fisheries Wharf stop.
