New River

Summer vacation in New River
I've been traveling around the Seto Inland Sea! ~

"New River" is a correspondent starting from "Shinkawa".

The remaining heat continues, but how are you all going? I have traveled to the Seto Inland Sea (Hiroshima Prefecture) this summer (August 20-22).

On the first day of the trip, take the Shinkansen to Hiroshima Station, rent a car at Hiroshima Station, and stay on an island called Osakikamijima (Osakikamijima, Osakikamijima-cho, Toyota-gun) floating in the Seto Inland Sea via Kure City. On the second day, I visited Imada Sake Brewery Honten (Agetsu-cho, Higashihiroshima-shi), the head of Imada Shoten who interviewed on the second blog, and then moved to Tomonoura (Tomonoura, Fukuyama City Tomocho) via Onomichi City and stayed here. The last day of the next day was a two-night, three-day trip to visit Fukuzenji Temple and Taichoro, where the Korean correspondent stayed, and return to Tokyo from Okayama Station by bullet train.

That's why it's time to hear the voice of autumn, but this blog says, "I've been traveling the New River Summer Vacation-Seto Inland Sea! Under the title of "~", I would like to introduce the "places related to Chuo-ku" (places related to the items listed in the 2nd blog and "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia" that I visited on this trip I think.

It's a journey. ①I traveled in the order of ~5. The map was posted using the Geographical Survey Institute website "Geographical Institute Map / GSI Maps | Geographical Survey Institute" with comments on the map.

Feel the history of terroir and sake brewing that raised "Tomihisa Cho" at Imada Sake Brewery Main Store!

Feel the history of terroir and sake brewing that raised "Tomihisa Cho" at Imada Sake Brewery Main Store! Summer vacation of New River ~ I've been traveling in the Seto Inland Sea! ~

On August 21, I visited Imada Sake Brewery Main Store (3734 Mitsutsu, Akitsu-cho, Higashihiroshima-shi), the head of Imada Shoten in Shinkawa, who interviewed on the second blog, and was also the president and touji. I was able to meet Miho Imada.

<Teroir>

Imada Sake Brewery Main Store is located in Akitsu-cho, facing Mitsuwan, where the wonderful scenery of the Seto Inland Sea spreads out, and its beautiful sake and aesthetics are `` Mitsu Tomari "and is written in Mitsu Kouta.

In this area, the mountains and the sea are close to each other, and the rain that falls on the peninsula-like mountains penetrates into the ground and springs out near the sea, so you can obtain high-quality water essential for sake brewing.

In addition, rice, which is an important raw material along with high quality water, uses Hattanso, which is contracted cultivated in Akitakata City, located in the northern part of Hiroshima Prefecture. .

Furthermore, in the calm and beautiful Mitsu Bay, water rich in phytoplankton flows from the mountains into rivers, and oyster cultivation has been flourishing for a long time.

Imada Sake Brewery Honten's flagship "Tomihisa Cho" was a liquor raised in terroir, such a climate under a warm Seto Inland Sea climate!

Miho said, "Campai! She appeared in "Women in Love with Sake" (a sake documentary film released in 2019), and was selected as one of the "100 Women of the Year" by the BBC Broadcasting of the United Kingdom every year to impress and influence people around the world (November 26, 2020, Chugoku Shimbun-sha).

The chimney behind is a sake brewing chimney made at a local brick factory in 1920 (Daisho 9).

<History of Sake Brewery>

I was encouraged by Miho to feel the history of sake brewing in Akitsu and Mitsu, and went to Sakakiyama Yahata Shrine.

Sakakiyama Yahata Shrine is a shrine related to sake brewing, and on the grounds there is a statue of Sensaburo Miura (1847 (Koka 4)-1908 (Meiji 4)), known as the "father of Ginjo sake." Sensaburo invented the "soft water brewing method" that brewed sake with soft water in this area, which was thought to be not suitable for sake brewing, and laid the foundation for sake brewing in Hiroshima.

In this area, rice breweries of the Hiroshima clan were set up in the Edo period, and the brewing industry was thriving since then. Since the Meiji era, many Hiroshima Toji were produced and flourished in the brewing industry. Therefore, in the construction of the shrine, there are many donations related to sake, such as the great efforts of sake brewers and stone barrels placed in front of main hall.

※ Refer to the explanation board etc. in the precincts of Sakakiyama Yahata Shrine.

<Akizu-cho>

Located in the southern part of Higashihiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the south faces the Seto Inland Sea with a coastline of about 16 km overlooking Osakikamijima Town. With the meaning of "Aki no good Tsu (port)," in 1943 (Showa 18), Mitsu-cho, Kamo-gun, Hayata Hara-mura, Kitani-mura, Toyota-gun (Toyota-gun) It is said that "Akizu-cho" merged and became "Akizu-cho".

Tomonoura, which Korean correspondent praised as "Nitto Daiichi Katsukatsu"

The summer vacation of the Tomonoura New River, which the Korean correspondent praised as "Nitto Daiichi Katakatsu", has traveled through the Seto Inland Sea! ~

After visiting Imada Sake Brewery Main Store, I visited Tomonoura (Tomocho, Fukuyama City), where the Korean correspondent also stopped (August 21-22).

<The scenic and beautiful Tomonoura>

Tomonoura is located just in the middle of the Seto Inland Sea. At high tide, tides flow from east and west into Tomonoura, and at the low tide, tide flows out east and west along the border of Tomonoura, so many ships have long been waiting for the tide.

During the Edo period, 1672 (Kanbun 12) and Zuiken Kawamura (Kawamuzuiken, 1618 (Genwa 4)-1699 (Genroku 12), see the first blog) developed a westbound route. The Korean communications envoy also prospered as a port of call in kitamae-bune.

Li Kunihiko (Ivanhon) of the 8th Communications Envoy (1711, the first year of Shotoku) was founded in guest hall (1690) and scenic spot (1690 (1690) in the 1st year of the Tenryaku era) and the 1st year of the Genroku era in guest hall.

In addition, along with the Korean Communications Envoy, Jukusha 19 (Jipanshaikku, 1765 (Meiwa 2) to 1831 (Tenpo 2), which is related to Chuo-ku, sees the scenery `` Itsukushima pilgrimage knee Kurige '' In "Itsukushima Sankei Hizakurige" with a new tatami mat that is laid off.

In this way, the scenic and beautiful scenery of Tomonoura was designated as a national scenic spot as Tomokoen in 1925 (Daisho 14), and was designated as the first national park in Japan as Setonaikai National Park in 1934. Furthermore, in 1994 (Heisei 6), the precincts of Fukuzenji Temple were designated as a national historic site as the "Korean Communications Envoy Site Tomofukuzenji precincts", and in 2017 (Heisei 29), Fukuzenji・ Six Korean communication envoy-related historical materials remaining at Taichoro were registered as UNESCO Memory Heritage (Memory of the World) as "Records of the Korean Communications Envoy".

<What is the Korean Communications Envoy?>

The Korean Communications Envoy is a diplomatic mission dispatched from Korea to Japan from the Muromachi period to the Edo period. The telecommunications envoy meant "the messenger who makes" good "good" (to deepen friendship), and the telecommunications envoy played a role in solving diplomatic issues.

In the Edo period, Ieyasu Tokugawa hoped that the Korean correspondent would be reopened in 1607 (1607), with the aim of increasing the stability and authority of the control of the Shogunate. It is said that there were a total of 12 dispatches during the approximately 200 years until 1811 (Culture 8).

About Korean correspondents appearing in "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia"

This blog introduces the "places related to Chuo-ku" of the Seto Inland Sea, but I would like to confirm the location of the Korean Communications Envoy and Jukasha 19 in the "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia" that appears in the "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia".

<Korean Communications Envoy>

First of all, I'm a Korean correspondent. P.57 of "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia" and "Shibakuchi Gomon Ruins" are listed as follows. The party of the Korean correspondent entered Edo city through Shibakuchi Gomon.

[Shibakuchi Gomon Ruins]

In 1710 (Hoei 7), Masugatamon was built in Kitazume, Shimbashi, to show the dignity of Japan at the time of the Korean correspondent Edo Sanfu. This gate is called "Shibakuchi Gomon", and Shimbashi was temporarily renamed Shibakuchi Bridge. However, since it disappeared in 1724 (Kyoho 9), it was not rebuilt, the stone wall was removed, and Shibakuchi Bridge returned to the old name of Shimbashi. The memorial stone monument standing on the site is embedded with a copper plate designed with a gate design.

<Jukensha 19>

Next is Jukasha 19. P.121 of "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia", "Tokasha 19 Tomb" appears as follows. After writing "Tokaido Naka knee chestnut hair", you said that you continued to write knee chestnut hair in various places. It seems that "Itsukushima pilgrimage knee chestnut hair" was also written at this time.

19th Tomb of Jukasha

The tomb of Tokasha 19 (Jipponshaku, 1765 (Meiwa 2)-1831 (Tenpo 2)), the author of the great bestseller of the Edo period, "Tokaido Naka-Kurige", is Shinenzan Toyoin. It is located in Shinenzan Toyoin. Born in a samurai family in Sunpu (now Shizuoka Prefecture), 19 became the author of Joruri under the name of Yoichi Chikamatsu.

In 1794 (Kansei 6), he went to Edo and devoted himself to the writer, wrote `` Tokaido Naka-Kurige '' based on the materials he accumulated every time he walked on the Tokaido, and with the blockbuster of this book, he became a trendy writer Has established the status. Since then, he has been writing knee chestnut hairs around the country for more than 20 years. In contrast to the humorousness of the story, 19 was a rare person, and it is said that companions sometimes returned during the trip because they did not talk much during the interview trip.

The nineteen monuments at the entrance of Shinenzan Toyo-in were written by Musei Tokugawa. The tombstone is located in the Toyoin Ossuary (Indoor Cemetery), and on the left side of the tomb is engraved with the famous dictionary phrase "Goodbye with the smoke of incense stick in this world and free time."

The following:

I became a correspondent of the Chuo-ku Tourism Association and interviewed Imada Shoten in Shinkawa. This summer, I visited Imada Sake Brewery Head Office and met Miho Imada. Usually, "Tomihisa Cho" passes through Imada Shoten, but "Tomihisa Cho" who actually visited the land of Akitsu and felt the history of terroir and sake brewing with five senses, and then returned to Tokyo. There was a special taste.

Also, Tomonoura was a place I would like to visit once in a lifetime, so this trip made that wish came true and I am deeply moved. The beauty of the islands, which has been built around since the Edo period, is a truly impressive word. At Taichoro, I was able to relive the scenery seen by a member of the Korean Communications Envoy, which was an unforgettable memory.

Please go on a scenic trip to the Seto Inland Sea full of historical atmosphere. I recommend it.

By the way, the summer vacation mode is about to end, so the next blog will return to everyday life and deliver "9 bridges over Shinkawa (Second series: Reigishi Bridge, Shin Kamejima Bridge, Kamejima Bridge)" (The first series is here).

Thank you very much for your continued support.
