[Taste of Chuo-ku] Sweets collaborated by Ninben, Yamamoto-noriten and Kanro are now available!
Kanro Co., Ltd. launched a new product in October 2023.
Yamamoto-noriten's "Nori no scissors" series, which had been on sale until now, has teamed up with that Ninben.
This is not overlooked as a Chuo-ku fan. This time, I would like to introduce you to the public.
Hit products that have been released for more than 20 years
Kanro Co., Ltd. (Kanro) is a confectionery manufacturer founded in the Taisho era with roots in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Speaking of Kanro, Kanro candy released in 1955 (1955). If you were born in Showa, you may not know the nostalgic flavor that uses soy sauce as a secret ingredient. Kanro and we, who have created such a familiar taste for many years, are jointly developed products by Yamamoto-noriten in Chuo-ku.
A material confectionery baked with seaweed from Ariake Sea and rich grains. Nanko plum from Kishu is used for plum flavor. Since its launch in 2002 (2002) as a simple and high-quality tidbits, Yamamoto-noriten's “nori scissors” has been supported by many fans.
Last year, a new three-company collaboration product with Nenben was launched.
Nori scissors grilled golden bonito flavor
This premium "nori scissors grilled" is sandwiched with garlic bonito flakes, shiitake mushrooms, and kelp, "gold bonito dashi". Please take a look. The package is also golden. The illustration is "Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji Edo Nihonbashi" by Katsushika Hokusai.
For a large package containing 11 grams that can be found on Kanro's website, "Thirty-Six Views of Mt. Fuji Kanagawa Okinamiura" was adopted. It's the new 1,000 yen bill issued this year (National Printing Bureau website).
Among them is "gold bonito stock".
The seaweed from Ariake Sea from Yamamoto-noriten has a very good scent. With the addition of the deep umami of garlic, a small shore spreads in this mouth, and even the memories of the former Nihonbashi fish shore seem to be condensed. It may be a little exaggeration, but from the package using ukiyo-e, I feel that this is exactly what I am talking about.
It is also recommended to take it to an overseas travel destination where you miss the taste of Japan. When it comes to souvenirs, it will be an opportunity for overseas people to come into contact with “UMAMI” and “WASHOKU”.
About garlic
The company was founded in 1699 (1699). It was the time of Tsunayoshi Tokugawa.
The first Ihei Takatsu went out of Ise country to Edo, and after serving as a millet for the year, he lined up doorboards near Nihonbashi and started trading bonito and dried fish. After that, he opened a bonito wholesaler and raised a noren designed with the name "Iseya Ibei" and designed "I (Ninben)" with the name of the shop as "Iseya Ibei", and it came to be called "Ninben" without anyone. It seems that.

Ninben is said to be the first store in the Edo period that succeeded in distributing gift certificates widely throughout the city. Ihei Takatsu, the sixth generation, created and issued a gift certificate made of thin silver plate that can be exchanged for bonito at any time if brought to the store.
In addition, the pack packaging, which is a subdivided bonito flakes, was first launched by Ninben in 1969 (1969). Until then, bonito flakes were used in any household before meals.
What is now commonplace has begun with Ninben.
Such a collaboration
Thank you very much, so I'll let you know.
"Ultimate Dashimi" supervised by Ninben is on sale from Calbee's solid fried potatoes, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023.
"Don't! A little bit of dashi! " Was devised by Kabuki actor Koshiro Matsumoto. The bonito powder contains 100% garlic bonito flakes. The dashi is very effective, and this is the taste of Japanese potato chips. It's a limited time, so don't miss it.
About Yamamoto-noriten
Yamamoto-noriten was founded in 1849 (1849). If you borrow the words of Nihonbashi Benmatsu Sohonten in Nihonbashi Muromachi, it's "four years ago when Perry came."

Since its founding, at Yamamoto-noriten of Nori Hitosuji, the second generation of Kojiro Yamamoto in the Meiji era created Ajitsuki seaweed as a gift to His Majesty the Emperor. Products such as "nori scissors grilled", which are seasoned with carefully selected ingredients, can be said to be the true value of Yamamoto-noriten, the founder of Azuki seaweed.
Surprisingly, it is also known as Japan's first drive-through installation store (currently closed). The current building, which had a drive-through at the time of completion, is located in the area of the Type 1 Urban Redevelopment Project in Nihonbashi Muromachi 1-chome district, and rebuilding is scheduled for this year. In the future, it will be reborn as a store with an eat-in space.
There are many other episodes that I can't talk about here. The long-established store in Nihonbashi is a treasure trove of Trivia that makes you want to talk to someone.
"Nihonbashi Monotsugi Project" is interesting!
In an article in November 2021, we introduced the "Ginza Monotsugi Project", which began with the call of Daichi Saito, the third generation of the Japanese confectionery shop "Kibikicho Yoshiya" in Higashiginza.

The Nihonbashi Monotsugi Project, which divides the Japanese shop curtain, was launched and is still ongoing.

In this "Nihonbashi Monotsugi Project", Takahiro Yamamoto, the representative of Yamamoto-noriten, plays a leading role in connecting things with people in the Nihonbashi area. The video that highlights the individuality of the performers is very interesting, so please take a look. Ninben appears in "Jugo Tsugime". Register the channel and follow the official X (former Twitter) to receive a new video notification.
We are Edo townspeople living in the present age.
Ninben and Yamamoto-noriten are merchants with the name system, and the owner has inherited the first name since the Edo period. In modern society, there will be a wide variety of procedures for renaming, such as changes in family register and corporate registration. In addition, I can't imagine how big it is to carry a signboard with a long history.
However, when we come into contact with a store that keeps tradition, we realize that the old history is certainly connected to the present. The fact that the name "Ninben", which was named by the townspeople of Edo, is now the current company name, is like re-experienced without knowing the breath of Nihonbashi at that time. I thought that the existence of a long-established store that reminds me like that was still great.
