[Ina Series No. 5] Former Kosuge Palace (Katsushika-ku, Tokyo)
In Chuo-ku, there is a sightseeing point called "Gundai Yashiki Ruins". Including Tadatsugu Ina, who was appointed as the deputy head by Ieyasu Tokugawa, the Ina clan was later called Kanto-gundai and inherited for twelve generations.
The land related to Ina this time is the "Kosuge Goten Ruins". There is an explanation board next to the main gate of the Tokyo Detention House. I will quote a part of the description.

The current area around the Tokyo detention house is located in the lower house of Tadaharu Ina (1592-1653), the Kanto-gundai, which controls the territory under the direct control of the Shogunate in the early Edo period, and is a resting place for shogun falconry and deer hunting. Was. Then, in July 1736 (1736), Kosuge Goten (Senju Goten) was built in Ina's mansion.
In 1792 (1792), the Kosuge Goten was abolished with the loss of Tadataka Ina, and the site became the land of Kosuge, owned by the Shogunate. A part of the surrounding area became the rice paddy and Zenza of the Edo Town Hall, and when entering Meiji period, Kosuge Prefectural Office, Kosuge Brick Factory, and Kosuge Prison were placed. Tadaharu is the second son of Tadatsugu. An overview of the achievements of Tadatsugu and Tadaharu is provided on the website of the Kanto Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
"Kosuge Goten" is a place created by the 8th Shogun Yoshimune Tokugawa as a place to take a break during falconry. Ieshige, the son of Yoshimune and later the ninth shogun, often visited here.
Looking back on the history of rivers and towns in the Kanto region, it is clear that the current society has been established through the accumulation of numerous civil engineering projects. Thanks to the efforts of our predecessors, I would like to imagine what is going on in the future Kanto region.
