New River

It has been built for 400 years next year! At the Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine in guardian angel, a sake wholesaler
"Reitaisai festival" of 2024 was performed!

"New River" is a correspondent starting from "Shinkawa".

On October 17, 2024, "Reitaisai festival" was held at Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine (1-8-17 Shinkawa, Chuo-ku). October 17 is the day when Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine was rebuilt in 1952 (1952) in line with the Kannamesai.

This year again, the new grain harvested that year (Hatsuho) is dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami, and the "Reitaisai festival" (ceremony, direct meeting) is held on the day of the "Kintan Festival" to thank the blessings. Was.

I would like to tell you about the Reitaisai festival at Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine.

History of Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine (derives of "Reitaisai festival")

The first is the history of Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine and the origin of Reitaisai festival.

Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine was founded in 1625 by Keikoin and Shusei Shonin (Keikoin) from Hidetada Tokugawa, the second shogun of Edo shogunate, toouter shrine Daikancho (now Kitanomarukoueninner shrine, near Chiyoda-ku).

Keikoin Temple was founded in the Muromachi period in Ise country (now Ise City, Mie Prefecture). During his tenure, Shuseijin was the fifth head priest of the hospital, and during his tenure, Edo shogunate issued a red seal related to the shrine dissembling and reconstruction of Ise-jingu Shrine and deepened his relationship with the Shogunate as a separate temple of Ise-jingu Shrine.

After that, Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine disappeared in the great fire of the Meiryaku era (1657) and was relocated to Reigishima Island in the area, built a shrine hall, and then built more than 360 years since then, it has been a guardian angel and a collection of sake shops and sake shops.

Meanwhile, shrine hall was lost again due to the Great Tokyo Air Raid on March 9, 1945, and then Shinkawa was reclaimed by the scorched earth, but in 1952, volunteers of sake wholesalers started the reconstruction of shrine hall and became the most important festival at Ise-jingu ShrineReitaisai festivalshrine dissembling and reconstruction.

Since then, on this day, we have welcomed the priests from Hachimangu Shrine Tomioka (1-20-3 Tomioka, Koto-ku) and held the annual festival, where business prosperity, domestic safety and healthy longevity of the alcoholic beverage industry and other reverents are prayed.

※ The Miyaji of Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine also serves as Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine.

Everyone who prepares the ceremony by arranging votive items. On the side of the approach, there is also a Tamagushi used for Tamagushi worship, which is ready.

A lot of sake was dedicated to the main shrine. Lower right) The dishes served at the direct meeting after the ceremony will be brought in.

Then, about Reitaisai festival. First of all, it's a ceremony.

The ceremony began at 11:00 a.m. with the priest from Hachimangu Shrine Tomioka.

First, there was an explanation of the history of Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine and the "Reitaisai festival", and there was also a story about the "Shinden Festival" being held at Ise-jingu Shrine. This year, rice prices have risen due to poor rice harvests, so I asked for a good harvest again.

felicitation was played, and Miko's bell dance was also dedicated. After that, all the worshipers worshiped Tamagushi, and the ceremony ended in about an hour.

At the end of the ceremony at Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine, we will move to the next Sake Foods Health Insurance Association's building and a direct meeting will begin.

Shinto priesthood and worshipers provide sacred wine and votive offering, which were offered to God after the festival. In direct meetings, it is thought that by talking about the same thing as God, we can enhance intimacy, unite with God, and gain more protection and vitality.

We went up to the fifth floor by stairs, received sake ware at the venue, and shared the sacred wine offered to God with Shinto priesthood and worshipers to toast.

After that, there were greetings from the organizers and guests, and after having a chat for a while, it was the long-awaited "Shinkawa tightening".

"Shinkawa tightening" is a kind of hand tightening similar to "three tightening" and "one tightening". It is a traditional hand tightening that has been handed down to sake wholesalers from the Edo period to the present, and has been held during events such as business negotiations and new year's first sale.

For example, "one tightening" is a clapping of "3, 3, 3, 1", but "Shinkawa tightening" is a characteristic tightening, also known as "7, 5, 3". I am. A "Clapping Book" was posted at the venue, so I took a photo (pictured at the lower right).

"Shinkawa tightening" is performed by a pair of people, and as it rises with shouts and clapping, the sacred wine poured into the vermilion cup is required to open the cup at the same time as the last shout of "Gohanjooooooo" is over. If the timing is out of alignment and the timing is shifted, we must "re-challenge" as a cup.…。

The two names were called by the moderator, and the organizers and guests, liquor associations, sake breweries, and sake wholesalers performed one after another, and the venue for the direct meeting was very exciting, around 1:30 pm It was opened.

※ For details on "Shinkawa tightening", please see the same explanation (with video) on the Masaru Shinkawa Jingu website.

This year, the "Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Taru Sake Festival" (pictured last year's poster) will be held on December 27 (Fri). It is a feature of Shinkawa since the Edo era, which began in 2019 (2019) in order to revive the selling of barrel sake for "downhill sake" for New Year's holidays.

The barrel sake exhibited was made in Nada and Fushimi during the Edo period and transported to Edo (six brands out of 18 Seki barrels and sake brewing manufacturers dedicated to the precincts), and Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Shrine weighed in Nito barrels (720 ml of all brands, 2,000 yen including tax).

Everyone, please go to the Masaru Shinkawa Jingu Taru Sake Festival at the end of this year.

Yeah

Masaru Shinkawa Jingu (neighbor), which usually has a quiet appearance, is full of worshipers (about 180 people) wearing darks on this day, and it has never been seen before (in a good sense) It was a sight. In addition, the excitement of the direct meeting was tremendous, and I could not hide my surprise by the overwhelming power of the sake brewing industry, such as sake sales associations, sake breweries, and sake wholesalers.

For a year and a half since I started writing a blog as a correspondent of the Chuo-ku Tourism Association, I have been working to spread the appeal of Chuo-ku with a little effort starting from Shinkawa. I would like to thank President Hirooka again for giving me the opportunity to visit Reitaisai festival for the first time. Thank you very much!
