Remotely navigate the beloved Chuo-ku, rosemary sea.

NHK Taiga drama series, the 2025 broadcast theme was announced on April 27.

The title is "Berabo-Eikano Yume Story (Tsutaju Eiga no Yumebanashi)".

Tsutashige = Juzaburo Tsutaya.

Meteor Yokohama will starring and play Juzaburo Tsutaya.

Other casts have not been announced yet, but since the script is Yoshiko Morishita, I hope that Haruka Ayase will be placed as a heroine role.

(* Morishita wrote scripts such as "Scream love at the center of the world", "Byakuyako", "JIN-nin", "Blues of mother-in-law and daughter", "Heaven and Hell-Two Psycho-" . There are other works, but in the above works, Haruka Ayase was cast as a heroine role. )

What is Juzaburo Tsutaya?

He was an Edo-class publisher who discovered Utamaro Kitagawa and Katsushika Hokusai, who published books.

I think it can be said that it is a leading player in Edo culture, a pioneer in Edo media, and a famous producer.

Koshodo (Koshodo)

It is said that Juzaburo Tsutaya first opened a bookstore near Shin-Yoshiwara Daimon.

However, in Tenmei 3 (1783), I moved a shop to Nihonbashiodenmacho, and it is a very smart name to read the book, "Koshodo", a land bookstore called Koshodo (Jihondonya) ).

It's a local book wholesaler that deals with fashionable books (sharebon: so-called novels) and ukiyo-e.

Location 13th Nihonbashi-Daidenmacho, Chuo-ku

In this area, there was a Shoshi (shoshi: publisher and bookstore) "Koshodo" by Juzaburo Tsutaya (1750-1797), a publisher in the middle of the Edo period.

Shigesaburo, born in Shin-Yoshihara (currently Chizuka, Taito-ku) in 1750, was later adopted by Tsutaya Kitakawa, and opened a Shoshi on Shin-Yoshihara Daimonguchi fiftyken Road.

In 1774, it became a publisher of Yoshiwara's guidebook, "Yoshiwara Hosomi", and also published yellow covers (Kibishi: so-called adult picture books and manga). I did it.

In September 1783 (Tenmei 3), he entered Toyu-cho (Tori Aburacho: near his current location) and published yellow covers, fashionable books, Kyoka books, Nishiki-e, etc., and became a leading local book (Edo. Published twin paper) wholesaler.

In Katsushika Hokusai's "Ehon Azuma Asobi", the successor to the storefront is depicted as "picture paper shop".

Shigesaburo is good at drawing on the tastes of the people of Edo, and as a player (gesakusha), Kisanji Hoseido, Nanune Ota, Harumachi Koikawa, Kyoden Santo (Katsushika Hokusai Santo).

In addition, he found Utamaro Kitagawa and became a patron and grew up, and left many achievements as a leading Edo version.

In Kansei 3 (1791), he was repressed by the publication control of Kansei's reform, and was sentenced to a halving of his personal belongings (Kesshobun: confiscation of half of his property).

However, since then, he has continued to work as a Shoshi, and published actors' paintings of Sharaku Toshusai from 1794 to the following year.

The old Nikko Kaido, the current "Daidenma Honcho-dori St.", has the above explanation board.

-Edo's first-class publisher who published works by playwrights and painters-

Juzaburo Tsutaya (1750-1797) was a publisher of the Edo period (published) and one of the leading figures that formed Edo culture.

He opened a bookstore near Yoshiwara Daimon and moved to this area in 1783 to open a local bookstore called Koshodo, which handles fashionable books and ukiyo-e.

Here, he published works by playwrights such as Nanpo Ota and Kyoden Santo, as well as painters from Katsushika Hokusai, Utamaro Kitagawa, and Sharaku Toshusai.

In Keicho 10 (1605), Jinnemon Shoji played a central role and submitted an application to the Shogunate for the establishment of a certified playground.

This petition was taken up in the first year of Genna (1617).

The installation location was determined to be Keiseimachi, and the following year, houses were lined up and started business.

It is presumed that Shinjo-cho is an area that adds a part of Nihonbashitomizawacho, 2.3-chome Nihonbashi Ningyocho.

As for the name, at that time, this area was marshland, which was full of Yoshi and reeds, so the name of Yukaku was changed to "Yoshihara", but later took Yoshi's same character and changed it to "Yoshiwara".

When Yoshihara was opened, it became popular soon.

Due to the prohibition of night business, it declined for a while, but once private prostitutes (shokan) and Yuna (Yuna) baths were banned, it became popular again.

Yoshihara prospered with many customers, but in 1656, the town magistrate called the elderly of Yoshiwara and moved to Honjo or Asakusa Nihonzutsumi. Ordered.

It is said that the background of this sudden order was fire prevention and moral problems.

The following year, a large fire of the Meiryaku era (furisode fire) occurred, and most of Yoshihara was burned down, so it was relocated to Asakusa during the same year.

Shinyukaku was called "Shin Yoshiwara" and the old land was called "Moto Yoshihara" and distinguished.

In Shin-Yoshiwara, night-round business, which was included as a relocation condition, was allowed, so it was greatly connected.

Juzaburo Tsutaya was born in 1750, so the relocation from former Yoshiwara in Chuo-ku to Shin-Yoshiwara in Taito-ku was almost 100 years before birth.

By the way, he seems to have worked in Shin-Yoshiwara, the father of Shigesaburo.

Then, the order to relocate Yoshiwara, the point is that it is too close to Edo Castle, the weather is not good, the fire spread is scary, I want more digging, and the area around Edo Castle seems to be suitable for a daimyo residence.

A kimono fire broke out and said, "Look at it, didn't tell me, central keep of Edo Castle was burnt, so I wish I had moved earlier and maintained it from there."

About Daimon and Daimon Street ...

About Daimon and Daimon-dori ... The ultimate new excavation monster, Juzaburo Tsutaya's shop, Koshodo, was located in Chuo-ku.
At the same time, I would like to talk about Yoshihara.

I'm going to talk a little, but the word "Daimon" has come out in various places, so I'll explain here.

Daimon, like Motoyoshihara and Shin-Yoshiwara, are gates at the large entrance of the Yukaku.

You could only enter and exit the amusement area at one place in Daimon.

As is the case with crime prevention, it seems naturally convenient to place a gatekeeper in Daimon and concentrate security guards in order not to escape to a prostitute.

And if there is Daimon, the road to that point is Daimon Street.

Just southwest of the site of Koshodo, there is also a street called Daimon-dori.

It is a 1.2km street from Nihonbashikodenmacho to Nihonbashi Ningyocho 2-chome.

However, it is said that it has been called so since 1988.

※ The opening image is Daimon Street near Suehiro Shrine, and the image above is Daimon Street, where it intersects with amazake Yokocho. )
