"Is the Yamanote Line going through Chuo-ku?"

Remotely navigate the beloved Chuo-ku, rosemary sea.

As you all know, Tokyo Station is a station in Chiyoda-ku. 1, Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku.

As shown in the opening image, Tokyo Station has Yaesu North Exit, Yaesu Underground Central Exit, Yaesu South Exit, Nihonbashi Exit, etc.

Their naming is exactly Chuo-ku, right? "Yaesu" and "Nihonbashi" are the place names of Chuo-ku.

However, the station itself does not seem to be hanging in Chuo-ku.

Despite the fact that the Yaesu underground shopping mall is connected.

This is an image from Tokyo Station and Marunouchi North Exit side.

It's the Imperial Palace side, or the original Chiyoda-ku side.

It's Tokyo Station, Nihonbashi Exit.

In front of this, it will be Chiyoda-ku, but TORTH TOWER (Tochi Tower) of TOKYO TORTH (Tokyo torch), which will be the tallest building in Japan in 2027 (390m), is under acclaim.

I have written an article about TORTH TOWER before.

⇒ December 8, 2022 "What is this monument?" -Scenery of the border of Chuo-ku-ku"

That's the problem here.
"Is the Yamanote Line really going through Chuo-ku? ]

・・The answer is yes. The Yamanote Line runs through Chuo-ku.

There is no station in Chuo-ku as the Yamanote Line, but it passes through Chuo-ku.

I'll explain this later.

Before the commentary, I will explain "JR Tokyo Station" as a boarding station for JR East / JR Central.

The route to JR Tokyo Station is ...

JR Tokyo Station ... Mammoth Station. JR East and JR East Sea Station.

JR alone seems to be the seventh largest number of passengers in Japan (2022 data).

JR East has an average daily number of passengers by station at 346,658 (announced by JR East in 2023), ranking third after Shinjuku Station and Ikebukuro Station.

By JR East Shinkansen station, averages 51,292 people a day, of course, the first place.

It is said that passenger income in JR East is the number one, averaged about 260 million yen a day.

JR Central has the average daily number of passengers ranked fourth in FY2020 (33,805) and the number one station on the Tokaido Shinkansen.

And it seems to be the first place in the entry / transfer route ranking.

There are a total of 20 counts, 18 entrys and 2 transfers.

◎ Line

1. Yokosuka Line

2. Yamanote Line

3. Keihin Tohoku Line

4. Ueno Tokyo Line

5. Tohoku Main Line (Utsunomiya Line)

6. Takasaki Line

7. Joban Line

8. Tokaido Main Line

9. Tokaido Shinkansen (also known as Tokaido Sanyo Shinkansen)

10, Sobu Main Line

11. Chuo Main Line

12, Hokuriku Shinkansen

13, Joetsu Shinkansen

14. Yamagata Shinkansen

15. Akita Shinkansen

16, Tohoku Shinkansen

17, Musashino Line

18, Keiyo Line

◎ Transfer line

1. Marunouchi Line (Tokyo Station)

2. Tozai Line (Otemachi Station)

※ Otemachi Station has five lines: Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, Tozai Line, Chiyoda Line, Hanzomon Line, and Toei Mita Line, and Toei Mita Line, which are connected to Tokyo Station by an underground passage, but only the Tozai Line is guided as a transfer.

By the way, Tokyo Station is the No. 1 subway station as a station with 5 lines.

In terms of entry and transfer routes, Osaka Station is 18, Ueno Station is 15, Omiya Station is 14, Shinjuku Station is 13, and Yokohama Station is 11.

Some of you may have objections, but this is our conclusion, including those familiar with JR.

I hope you can see it with a warm eye.

・・・ I will explain each route to JR Tokyo Station.

The Yokosuka Line is an official route between Ofuna Station and Kurihama Station, but is generally a service system from Tokyo Station.

The Yamanote Line, of course, runs through Tokyo Station.

The Keihin Tohoku Line is also available.

The Ueno Tokyo Line goes through Tokyo Station.

The Tohoku Main Line (Utsunomiya Line) is also available from Tokyo Station. The "Utsunomiya Line" is a nickname between Tokyo and Utsunomiya on the Tohoku Main Line.

The Takasaki Line runs from Tokyo Station in terms of driving system.

The Joban Line is said to be "passing" when including Shinagawa Station.

The Tokaido Main Line departs from Tokyo Station.

Of course, the Tokaido Shinkansen also starts at Tokyo Station.

The Sobu Main Line is from Tokyo Station.

The Chuo Main Line starts from Tokyo Station.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen starts at Takasaki Station, but the maintenance Shinkansen is from Tokyo Station. March 16 The opening of Kanazawa Station-Tsuruga Station has become a hot topic, but it seems to extend to Osaka eventually.

The Joetsu Shinkansen is available from Tokyo Station on the passenger guide.

The Yamagata Shinkansen, Akita Shinkansen and Tohoku Shinkansen are available from Tokyo Station.

Some people may think the Musashino Line is "Oya?", But since it is directly connected to the Keiyo Line, it is from Tokyo Station on the passenger guide.

And the Keiyo Line also starts from Tokyo Station.

"Is the Yamanote Line going through Chuo-ku?"

I have kept you waiting for a long time. I made a very detour, but I'll finally explain the opening question here.

To the north of Tokyo Station is Kanda Station in the same Chiyoda-ku.

(In the image above, "Tokyo Station" is on the lower left of the image, and "Kanda Station" is on the upper left slightly.)

Routes that go straight from Tokyo Station to here are the Yamanote Line, Keihin Tohoku Line, Ueno Tokyo Line, Tohoku Main Line (Utsunomiya Line), Takasaki Line, Joban Line, Hokuriku Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen, Yamagata Shinkansen, Akita Shinkansen, Tohoku Shinkansen Line It is each line.

The track, as shown in the red circle in the figure, passes over the side of Tokiwa Elementary School and Tokiwa Park at 4-chome Nihonbashi Honkokucho.

If you look at it on the map, it's about 200m.

In other words, on the way from the station in Chiyoda-ku to the station in Chiyoda-ku, it passes through Chuo-ku.

That's why the Yamanote Line also passes through Chuo-ku.

By the way, you leave Tokyo Station in the same north direction as those routes, but the Sobu Line on the east side is Shin-Nihonbashi Station (4-4-10 Nihonbashi Muromachi) and Bakurocho Station (Bakurocho Eki: Nihonbashi Bakurocho 1-11) stations in Chuo-ku.

 Rosmariquez 1
"Is the Yamanote Line going through Chuo-ku?"

(I photographed from the turquoise-colored star mark in the previous map image.)

Most of the images are tracks on the Chiyoda-ku side.

To the left is Tokyo Station and to the right is Kanda / Ueno Station.

On the track, the Hokuriku Shinkansen runs from right to left.

The shooting time is 11:19 am, and if you guess from here in terms of time, the Hokuriku Shinkansen is "Hakutaka 556 Kanazawa Station departure at 8:18 at Tokyo Station arrival at 11:20", E7 or W7 (*) .

※ 『E』 East, JR East, "W" belongs to West, JR West. The Hokuriku Shinkansen is divided between JR East and JR West at the border of Joetsu Myoko, so trains belonging to both companies run.

For one thing, there is a W or E alphabet and a number at the window of the crew room, and the logo mark of the car is written as "EAST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY" or "WEST JAPAN RAILWAY COMPANY", or at the bottom of the car body side You can check it with "E ..." or "W ...", but all cannot be distinguished by this image. I don't know because it's far away and not clear.

The right end is on the Chuo-ku side.

On the right side of the image, there is Tokiwa Elementary School in Chuo Ward.

 Rosmariquez 1
"Is the Yamanote Line going through Chuo-ku?"

(I took a picture from the black star in the two previous map images.)

The left side of the image is the edge of Honishicho 4-chome. It's the border of Chuo-ku.

The upper track, the left back is Tokyo Station, and the right front is Kanda / Ueno area.

 Rosmariquez 1
"Is the Yamanote Line going through Chuo-ku?"

Then, how about the route to Shimbashi Station in Minato-ku, south of Tokyo Station?

The upper right half is Ginza 8-chome in Chuo-ku, the upper left is Chiyoda-ku, and the lower left is Minato-ku.

Tokyo Station is located at the top of the figure, and Shimbashi Station is at the bottom left of the figure.

Among the Yokosuka Line, Yamanote Line, Keihin Tohoku Line, Joban Rapid Line, Ueno Tokyo Line, Tokaido Line, Tokaido Line, Tokaido Shinkansen, only the Yokosuka Line, which runs on the east side, seems to have a track at Ginza 8-chome .

However, it is not the ground, but under the road ("Tokyo Kosoku Doro [KK Line]" shown in blue in the figure).

No, it seems that the Yokosuka Line passes through the Ginza Corridor Street under the KK Line, underground.

By the way, Ginza Corridor Street passes to the right of the KK Line.

The central and lower corner buildings are the Shizuoka Shimbun/Shizuoka Hoso Tokyo Branch Office Building.

Going southward, the Musashino Line and Keiyo Line, which turn to the east, of course passes through Chuo-ku.

There are also Hatchobori Station (3-25-10 Hatchobori) and stations in Chuo-ku.

So, when I say, "How many JR stations are there in Chuo-ku?", There are three JR stations in Chuo-ku, including Shin-Nihonbashi Station and Bakurocho Station on the Sobu Line, and Hatchobori Station here.

 Rosmariquez 1
"Is the Yamanote Line going through Chuo-ku?"

(I photographed in the direction of the red arrow in the previous map image.)

The left is Ginza Corridor Street, the KK Line above it, the central road is Ginza Corridor Street, and the Shizuoka Shimbun / Shizuoka Hoso Tokyo Branch Building is located where the image on the right is cut.

As I mentioned earlier, the Yokosuka Line runs under the back of Ginza Corridor Street and under the KK Line.

 Rosmariquez 1
"Is the Yamanote Line going through Chuo-ku?"

(I photographed from the turquoise-colored star mark in the two previous map images.)

The central building is designed by Kenzo Tange, Shizuoka Shimbun / Shizuoka Hoso Tokyo Branch Building in Ginza 8-3-7.

And the tip of the red arrow at the lower left is the KK line.

Let's delve deeper into the question at the beginning.

In other words,...

I found that the Yamanote Line passed through Chuo-ku, so it was ○ (maru), but does the other routes that get to Tokyo Station pass through Chuo-ku?

1. Yokosuka Line

3. Keihin Tohoku Line

4. Ueno Tokyo Line

5. Tohoku Main Line (Utsunomiya Line)

6. Takasaki Line

7. Joban Line

8. Tokaido Main Line (because it is heading south from Tokyo Station) x

9. Tokaido Shinkansen (for the same reason as the Tokaido Line) x

10, Sobu Main Line

11. Chuo Main Line (because it is heading west from Tokyo Station) ×

12, Hokuriku Shinkansen

13, Joetsu Shinkansen

14. Yamagata Shinkansen

15, Akita Shinkansen

16, Tohoku Shinkansen

17, Musashino Line

18, Keiyo Line

That's right.

・・How was it?

It was a pretty maniac quiz, but did you enjoy it?

Rosemari will continue to give an interesting quiz about Chuo-ku.
