151-year-old Tokiwa School Alumni Association 2024 General Assembly
Hisamatsu Kindergarten (Tokiwa Garden) Tour / Nihonbashi History Archives Information!
1873 Tokiwa Elementary School, which opened in 1873 as No. 4 Elementary School in Daiichi Junior High School District 1, celebrates its 151th anniversary this year. The school system was issued in 1872 and opened immediately, so it seems that the level of education in the local Nihonbashi area was very high. As expected, the Edo Nihonbashi area was the center of commerce and finance in Japan.
The Tokiwa Elementary School school building was built in 1929 as a reconstruction elementary school burned by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1929 as a fire-resistant reconstruction elementary school. Historic buildings was designated as a cultural property by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2008 as a modern industrial heritage designated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2008. I am proud of the graduates of the Tokiwa School Alumni Association not only for its excellent design, but also for its architecture that focuses on both functionality and environmentality.
I participated as an old teacher at the Tokiwa School Alumni Association General Assembly held on June 30, 2024. .
As special projects this time, there were "Hisatsu Kindergarten (Tokiwa Garden) Tour" and "Nihonbashi History Archives Information".

"The 147th anniversary Tokiwa Elementary School New Annex School Building will be unveiled at the Tokiwa School Alumni Association General Assembly in 2019!"
Ichiro Sakuma, Chairman of the Alumni Association
In the greeting from the chairman, Hisamatsu Kindergarten (Tokiwa Garden) will be relocated in September, saying, "I want to support the children of Tokiwa in Nihonbashi and the children of Hisamatsu together with the feeling that they will bring up together." I was told.
Keijiro Niino, who produced "Nihonbashi History Archives" on the first floor of the new building of Tokiwa Elementary School, was introduced at today's alumni association.

In the greeting, this work was last supervised by the late Makoto Takeuchi, honorary director of the Edo Tokyo Museum, who was born in Nihonbashi, when he was sick. He said that he would like to use this place more in educational sites and sightseeing.
After the general meeting, graduates of Tokiwa Elementary School and former teaching staff were seen blooming and chatting in nostalgic old tales while having tea with "Benmatsu's Lunch" prepared by the Alumni Association.
Hisamatsu Kindergarten Moved to Tokiwaen Building from September and unveiled to Tokiwa School Alumni Association!
Hisamatsu Kindergarten Yuko Kawagoe, director of the school building, guided me.
The Tokiwa Elementary School Auditorium has two play rooms and two nursery rooms.
The balcony on the second floor, which is rare in the auditorium as a reconstruction school building, remains as it is.
Tokiwa Kindergarten graduates also go around the school building, saying, "This was a Japanese-style room"!
It had an old history of 128 years, which was opened in 1895. When the sons and children of Nihonbashi shops were picked up and picked up by servants, there was a Japanese-style room that was very rare as a public kindergarten where the attendants were waiting. After the memorial, it was a faculty and staff room.
The play room is usually used widely in this way, and when using the stage, it can be moved up and down by electric power. It's a very reasonable way to use it.
The roof of the auditorium was a rooftop garden so that children at Hisamatsu Kindergarten could exercise.
Children at Tokiwa Elementary School can also see the children from the classroom.

OPEN was held as an exhibition space as a local museum in Nihonbashi for the purpose of utilizing it for primary education. Based on the vision of "Aiming to be the starting point of the water city, Tokyo, and the base of the tourist city Tokyo", using a map that extends from the floor to the wall, superimposing the map of the Kaei era and the current map, I think it's wonderful that you can experience it.
The bright light blue color with good coloring felt wonderfully the blue sky reflected in the city of water.
It is recommended that you place yourself in this space and take enough time to immerse yourself in fantasies by slipping time for a while.
This is an elaborate model of the Nihonbashi Fish Bank displayed at the front entrance. It seems that they are borrowed from the Chuo-ku Folk Museum.

Next year's 2025, "Berabo-Eikano Yume Story" will begin with NHK Taiga drama series and Juzaburo Tsutaya. Since the beginning of Taiga drama series, it is the first time that the common people have become the main characters, and I look forward to seeing Juzaburo Tsutaya, the main character played by Yokohama Meteor, will be held in Nihonbashi.
The place where Juzaburo Tsutaya was written was on Nihonbashi Abura Street. By all means, please look for it.
